PLEASE NOTE: AS OF MARCH 1, 2022 THE MUSEUM WILL NO LONGER REQUIRE PROOF OF COVID VACCINATION. MASKS ARE STILL RECOMMENDED. THANK YOU.

The museum is now reopened to the public. We are currently open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm only. Please check our web site prior to your visit as these hours may change.

The COVID-19 (Coronavirus 2019) poses an ongoing health risk to museum staff, volunteers, visitors, and contractors. The museum takes this issue very seriously and is continuously evaluating the current threat level and the advice of medical and public health experts.

Our policies for ALL visitors and staff are:

1. Temperature (at the discretion of CAMDC)

Visitors’ temperatures may be checked if deemed necessary, before entering the museum using a digital temporal (no-contact) scanner. If a recorded temperature is higher than 100.4o F (38.0o C) or above, the visitor will not be permitted to enter the museum. Please do not enter the museum if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms (see below).

2. Masks

Face coverings are recommended (but not required at this time) for visitors ages four and older regardless of vaccination status. The museum offers a free disposable mask, available upon request.

3. Social Distancing

We encourage distancing between unrelated social groups and visitors should adhere to these distances to the greatest extent possible.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and DC government, visitors are required to keep at least 6 feet (2 meters) from other people or group.

Admission to the building will be determined by the maximum building capacity associated with the threat level.

4. Group Size (If current threat level allows)

Visiting group size will be limited based on the current threat level. Please inquire with the museum about the current policy in effect. The total number of visitors cannot exceed the current building capacity for the current threat level.

While in the museum, visitor groups will maintain at least 6 feet (2 meters) of distance between themselves and individuals outside their visitor group.

5. Hand Washing and Hand Sanitizer

All visitors must sanitize their hand upon entering the museum.

Restrooms, elevators, hand railings, and other high touch surfaces are cleaned throughout the day.

6. Interaction Devices

Touchscreen tablet and timeline surface will be frequently cleaned throughout the day.

The Museum will provide a stylus pen for visitor to use to fill out information on the tablet and use for timeline interaction. The pen will be cleaned after each use.

Visitors will be encouraged to use the touch-free registration option using a QR code scanned by their personal mobile device.
